To graduate from Clark Honors College, a student must have completed, at the time of graduation, all requirements in effect when the student was first admitted and enrolled at Clark Honors College.

The points on this sheet include everything CHC students must do to meet the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees. Other requirements may apply to students attending professional schools at the University of Oregon.
Students who follow the Clark Honors College curriculum fulfill all of the UO general education requirements. Students who withdraw from Clark Honors College may be required to take additional classes to satisfy university requirements in order to graduate.
CHC students should plan to complete their literature and history requirements by the end of their sophomore year. Stu-dents may register for colloquia after having completed HC 223H or HC 233H.
AP and IB
Depending on courses and test scores, students may use AP or IB credits toward honors college math, science, multicultural, and second language requirements, applicable major requirements, or university electives.
Second Language
The second-language requirement will be waived if a department requires more than 90 credits of course work for a major leading to a B.S. degree. Such majors include biology, business administration, chemistry, computer and information sci-ences, environmental science, human physiology, general science, geological sciences, and physics. The second-language requirement is also waived for students pursuing bachelor of architecture (B.Arch) and bachelor of fine arts degrees (B.F.A.), interior architecture (B.I. Arch.), and landscape architecture (B.L.A.). In music, where there are several choices of degrees, the second-language requirement is waived only in cases where it is not a requirement for the student’s chosen degree.
Grading
Note that all courses taken to satisfy Clark Honors College requirements must be graded (unless P/NP is the only option); students must achieve grades of C- or higher for the course to count toward requirements.
Course Substitutions
CHC students must fulfill their colloquium requirements with HC classes (classes with a subject code of "HC"). Permis-sion to substitute non-HC classes to fulfill these requirements must be obtained in writing. Some HC 424, 434 or 444 (multicultural colloquia) may be used to satisfy HC 421, 431 or 441 requirements, depending on course content. Students are encouraged to complete a Course Substitution Petition for all substitution requests. Any questions regarding specific substitutions should be directed to the student’s CHC faculty advisor.
Class Size
HC classes – classes with an HC subject code – are limited to 25 or fewer students. Classes from approved lists which have other subject codes may have more students.
