How Can I Get UO Credit for my Internship Experience?

To earn credit for your internship experience you must make arrangements with a UO faculty member to act as a sponsor. This sponsor is responsible for submitting all necessary paperwork (as an open-ended credit) to their department. In this process, it will be up to the sponsor to determine whether or not an internship qualifies for credit, and if so, what assignments will be required of the intern. Over the course of the internship, the sponsor will be responsible for collecting and grading all assignments, thus it is necessary that ongoing contact be maintained between a student intern and their sponsor. In order to assist with the setting up of an internship curriculum, the CHC Internship Program has formulated a Suggested Syllabus for Internship Credit (PDF, 12k)

Credit may also be earned through specific internship programs available on the UO campus.

The University of Oregon Career Center provides credit earning internship opportunities. Visit their web site at: http://uocareer.uoregon.edu. The Career Center is located at 220 Hendricks Hall on the UO campus.

The Participatory Learning Experiences Program also provides many internship opportunities for UO students qualifying for UO credit. For internship listings visit the Career Center.

The UO Leadership Program also offers a wide array of credit earning internship opportunities that focus on the development of leadership skills. Many of these internships are near or on campus. For more information visit the Program’s website at: http://uoleadership.uoregon.edu.

The UO Community Internship Program is a student-run, service-learning, academic program. Based on the concept of experiential learning, CIP helps students find places to volunteer while earning upper-division college credit for their experiences. Students can choose to participate in any of the six program divisions that CIP has to offer: Building Blocks, Human Services, Leadership, Mentorship, Outdoor School and Public Schools. For more information visit the Community Internship Program in Suite 48 of the EMU on the UO campus.

Finally for students interested in international internships, the IE3 Global Internships Program of the Oregon University System offers many opportunities. For more information visit: http://ie3global.oregonstate.edu. Students can also visit the UO Office of International Programs at 330 Oregon Hall for more information.
