If you have questions about CHC scholarships, please contact Carol Giantonio, CHC Student Services Coordinator, , before submitting an application. Remember that receiving a CHC scholarship will affect your financial aid package.
Submit your application materials to the CHC office no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 15th.
Andrea Gellatly Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a woman going into her final year in Clark Honors College who has demonstrated academic excellence (minimum 3.7 GPA ), breadth of interest and social concern, all of which characterized the late Ms. Andrea Gellatly in her short but influential life. Applicants must submit a resumé detailing their interests and their activities in the area of social concern, with a one-page essay indicating why they believe they are qualified for this scholarship.
Edward C. Sargent III Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a CHC student majoring in a pre-health care field or a natural science who combines qualities of idealism, commitment to humanity, openness to alternatives, love of the outdoors, and an interest in preserving and protecting the environment that characterized Edward C. Sargent, M.D. Applicants must submit a resumé with evidence of volunteer work and a one-page essay that addresses their perspectives on the aforementioned qualities.
Ira and Eleanor Wong Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a CHC student who has demonstrated academic merit (minimum GPA 3.7). Applicants must submit a one-page essay describing their academic interests and accomplishments and how this scholarship will aid them in their future academic endeavors.
Jean Wittemyer Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a CHC student who shows exceptional promise for achievement, as evidenced by GPA (minimum 3.7), originality of research or other applicable criteria. Applicants must submit a one-page essay describing their academic interests and accomplishments and how this scholarship will aid them in their future academic endeavors.
Joy Poust Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded based on financial need as defined by UO Office of Financial Aid. Applicants must file a FAFSA with the UO Office of Financial Aid in order to be considered. Applicants must submit a one-page essay describing their academic interests and accomplishments and how this scholarship will aid them in their future academic endeavors.
Robert D. Clark Honors College Service Award
This scholarship is awarded to a student who has made significant contributions to the CHC community. Applicants must submit a resumé detailing their activities related to enhancing the CHC community and a one-page essay on why believe they are qualified for this scholarship.
Roger and Ginny Reich Scholarship for Study Abroad
This scholarship is awarded to a CHC student pursuing a minimum of one full term in an approved UO study abroad program. Applicants must include term or terms they plan to study abroad in their application. Interested students must submit a one-page essay on how a Reich scholarship will assist them in their academic pursuits.
Shephard Family Scholarship for Study Abroad
This scholarship is awarded to a CHC student pursuing foreign language study for a minimum of one full year in an approved UO study abroad program. If there are no eligible candidates, then applicants attending an approved UO study abroad program of any length will be considered. Applicants must include term or terms they plan to study abroad in their application. Interested students must submit a one-page essay on how a Shephard scholarship will assist them in their academic pursuits.
Wigham Family Thesis Prize
This scholarship is awarded to a CHC student who has demonstrated significant academic progress (minimum GPA 3.7) and promise of further outstanding achievement. First consideration is given to Canadian residents. Students going into their final year in Clark Honors College are eligible. Applicants must submit a one-page essay describing their academic interests and accomplishments and how this scholarship will support their thesis research.
Wilma Wittemyer Memorial Scholastic Achievement Prize
This scholarship is awarded to a CHC student going into his or her final year in Clark Honors College who has demonstrated significant academic progress (minimum GPA 3.7) and promise of further outstanding achievement. Applicants must submit a one-page essay describing their academic interests and accomplishments and how this scholarship will assist them in their future academic endeavors.
Scholarship winners will be announced in March. Winners of past scholarships, awards and prizes can be viewed here http://honors.uoregon.edu/opportunities/scholarships/winners/. Please note that some scholarships may not be awarded if qualified candidates do not apply.
Scholarship funds are disbursed beginning Fall Term and are applied directly to the students' UO billing account. After current charges have been paid, any excess financial aid may be disbursed to the student in the form of a check. These "net" checks are disbursed at the UO Business Affairs Office/Perkins Loans counter on the first floor of Oregon Hall. Students will be asked to compose a letter to the scholarship donor before funds are disbursed.
