Stephen Fickas is a Professor in Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon. He leads an effort to provide non-majors at UO with programming skills they can use after they graduate. In 2015 he was awarded a UO Williams Fellowship for his work in this area.

Professor Fickas has a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and has been part of projects across departments and colleges on campus with more than $5M in funding. His interests lie in the areas of data science and the Internet of Things, and their intersection in smart-cities and smart-transportation. He enjoys surfing, playing tenor sax and daydreaming about the beaches of Australia.
