This course explores the multifaceted aspects of an art museum, focusing on a case study: the Portland Art Museum (PAM). The second week of class, students will go on a field trip to Portland and will study the museum from the perspective of a visitor. During the course, students will make sense of this experience through the academic disciplines of the College of Design: urban planning, architecture, historic preservation, landscape architecture, product design, art, and art history. The class is based on a field trip, readings, interviews, and research.
