Meet the CHC Peer Mentors of 2020!

Introducing the CHC Peer Mentors!

Peer mentors are here to help all CHC students navigate the often unclear and confusing moments that arise during everyone's academic journey. More so than that, they are hear to help support you and offer their personal perspectives and experiences on a myriad of aspects of student life including the CHC curriculum and requirements, how to balance your schedule, how to get involved in campus, and how to find resources to help alleviate other concerns.

You can find the Peer Mentor's office hours schedule below, and you can reach them to set up an appointment at After you meet with a Peer Mentor, you will receive an email report with a summary of your meeting and links to any discussed references and referrals

The Peer Mentors will be holding office hours on Microsoft Teams! You can find the CHC Peer Mentor channel and contact the Peer Mentors during their office hours by clicking here.

Peer mentors will be holding office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays this term.

Lauryn Cole -- CHC Peer Mentor in Humanities

Second-year CHC student, English major

lauryn, peer mentor

Hello! My name is Lauryn and I am thrilled to be one of your Peer Mentors for the upcoming year. I will be your point person for all Humanities questions (but am equally excited to answer general life inquiries if you have them). I’m an English major that’s also minoring in Digital Humanities and Business Administration. During the school year I was a part of the West Coast Swing Club and loved checking out the Eugene music scene on the weekends. I’m working on learning how to roller skate, completing the Game of Thrones series (PLEASE come out with the next book @GRRMspeaking), and mentoring a writing group at home. I love tiramisu, want to go to Greece (yes, because of Mamma Mia), and interned at an indie bookstore this summer. But, most importantly, I love UO and cannot wait to help you all find your niche here.

Devan McClain -- CHC Peer Mentor in Social Science

Second-year CHC student, Political Science major

devan, peer mentor

Hello, everyone! My name is Devan McClain and I’m so excited to be your social science Peer Mentor for the 2020-21 academic year. As a current sophomore in the CHC, I am studying political science with an emphasis on ethics, identity, and society, as well as minoring in global health and disability studies. Outside of the classroom, you can find me running and hiking my way around Eugene or fueling my caffeine addiction with friends at a local coffee shop. I’ve also really enjoyed exploring many of the different ski slopes on the West Coast, especially since I was born and raised close to the mountains in New Hampshire!

I’m looking forward to meeting and working with you all this year; please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself or reach out with any questions!

Kayden Kendrick -- CHC Peer Mentor in Science

Fourth-year CHC student, Biology major

Kayden, peer mentor

Hey Y’all! My name is Kayden, I am a senior Biology and super excited to work with you this year as the STEM Peer Mentor for the CHC! I love science and think that there is place for everyone no matter what skills you have now! I also really enjoy vibing-out to some good music, playing video games and going backpacking in the beautiful nature we enjoy here in Oregon. I am notorious for finishing things right before the deadline and love to help others navigate the crazy world that is American Universities. Trying to figure out how to fit study abroad into your already tight four-year plan? I did it and so can you! Come and ask me all the questions you have and have a great and safe year!
