Fracchia's major areas of study are German intellectual history and historical theory. He has written one book in German and several articles and reviews in the leading journals for historical theory, including most recently "The Capitalist Labour-Process and the Body in Pain" in Historical Materialism and "Hora: Social Conflicts and Collective Memories in Piana degli Albanesi" in Past and Present. The latter is about the ancestral home of Fracchia's maternal grandparents, a town in Sicily that was founded by Albanian refugees in 1488 and has remained ethnically, religiously, linguistically, and culturally distinct since.
