Look Twice...Again
In fall of 2025, CHC Dean Carol Stabile was surprised to hear that the college she leads had six sets of twins – a statistical anomaly that hadn’t been matched in recent memory.
That is until now, and it’s been surpassed. As the CHC welcomes the incoming Class of 2030 this fall, our community will be joined by four more pairs of twins. With one pair – Bess and Rose Frerichs – having graduated, that brings the Honors College twins crew to nine.
“I loved meeting with our twins last year, but thought that was the end of that,” Stabile says now. “But to add four more sets? Now it will, for sure, be like we are seeing double.”

What makes you different from your twin?
Shira: “Aside from gender, one of the things that sets us apart is that Reuben is far more athletic and can play any sport he wants. On the other hand, I am very clumsy and will probably get hit in the face by a ball if I try to play any sports. I enjoy being in the stands much more and really enjoy getting into the school spirit side of sports.”
Reuben: “One big difference is that I am more laid back and don't react as outwardly to things. Shira tells everyone about everything even if she can't string a story together very well. I prefer to stick to myself and have a go-with-the-flow attitude.”
Aaliya and Naadirah Pedersen

Aaliya: “I think that we’re really similar, and we have a lot of the same interests. But our biggest differences would probably be how we dress and what kind of music we like.”
Naadirah: “Aaliya and I are very similar. But we are different in the way that we dress and that we are fraternal, not identical, so we don’t look exactly alike.”

Jack: “In my opinion, me and Charlie share a lot of personality traits like our humor. But we are different through our hobbies. I play a lot of sports and Charlie is more interested in reading and other niche topics. We are more alike than I think a lot of people realize, though.”
Charlie: “Jack and I are very similar in a lot of ways and have similar interests, but we express them differently. For example, Jack likes basketball, I like lifting weights. Jack plays guitar, I like to draw. We also look different enough that most people are surprised we’re twins or even related.”
