CHCSA Student Association

What is the CHCSA?

While Clark Honors College students benefit from academic perks such as small class sizes, student-determined research, and internship opportunities, there still comes a time when every young adult needs to have a little fun. At this intersection of intellect and entertainment stands the Clark Honors College Student Association (CHCSA).

All Clark Honors College students are members of CHCSA and may participate in any CHCSA activities. There are no dues.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Clark Honors College Student Association is to provide a forum for student dialogue and debate; opportunities for student leadership, service and community building; and a representative voice within the CHC administration and the university at large.

Meetings

Regular CHCSA meetings, where projects are developed and discussed are open to all CHC students. Meetings are held in the CHC Library in 302 Chapman Hall. Times and dates may vary by term but are posted in Chapman Hall. There are many opportunities for leadership roles and involvement, and a hearty welcome for any ideas for events or programs that you think would be beneficial to CHC students.

Events

CHCSA events have included end of term picnics, beach trips, Prince Puckler's ice-cream and movie nights, and trips to Ashland to enjoy plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The CHCSA also sponsors distinguished authors and poets to speak with CHC students through the Honored Authors series, and developed the Clark Honors Introductory Program (CHIP) for incoming freshmen. Members give input in the selection process when Clark Honors College hires new tenure-track professors, as well as a new director every four years. Other projects have included: developing a CHC literary magazine, re-decorating the CHC student lounge, and designing a mascot for the honors college.
