  • CRN 22692: Monday & Wednesday, 2:00-3:50pm @ GSH 131

Students learn about how public health issues and characteristics of place interact, and propose innovative solutions by engaging in the interactive, transdisciplinary problem-solving process. The course will use a design studio instructional approach, which is characterized by students working in small groups over the course of the term, incorporating regular peer- and instructor-provided feedback along the way. Each group will focus on a distinct public health problem and work together to a) identify the relevant social determinants, b) describe the intersecting identities of the populations experiencing heightened risk, c) create plans for gathering input from community stakeholders, particularly from historically marginalized voices, and d) propose an innovative solution.
