Last week, following an extensive national search process, the University of Oregon's Office of the Provost announced my appointment as the permanent dean of the Robert D. Clark Honors College. You can read the full announcement from the Office of the Provost at their website.
I am honored and enthusiastic about this opportunity. Serving as the interim dean for the past four years has provided invaluable experience, allowing me to collaborate closely with faculty and staff as we navigated significant challenges, including a surge in student enrollment, the effects of a global pandemic, regional and international tensions, and leadership transitions within the University of Oregon.
During this time, the Clark Honors College has embarked on several initiatives, including fundraising efforts to support mentored research, the development of innovative new courses, establishing study sessions for students taking the general chemistry sequence, relocating first-year students to the New Residence Hall, and continuing the Three-Minute Thesis Competition for graduating seniors.
I am eager to launch the next phase of the Clark Honors College's history by initiating a comprehensive visioning process in the upcoming fall term. This process will ensure that the College remains aligned with the evolving educational needs of our high-achieving students by fostering strong partnerships with university stakeholders.
As we move forward, I am grateful for your ongoing support. Together, I hope we can explore new avenues to empower our students and equip them with the tools they need to make a meaningful impact on the world. Thank you for your unwavering dedication to the Clark Honors College.
Sincerely,
Carol Stabile
Dean
