Wuon-Gean Ho is originally from the United Kingdom, and resides full-time in London. She frequently travels to Oregon to teach workshop classes at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology and always makes a stop in Pendleton to visit Crow’s Shadow. “Tacto” was her final print in collaboration with Frank Janzen, former Master Printer, before he retired in 2017. Ho graduated with a BA in History of Art from Cambridge University before taking up a Japanese Government Scholarship in1998 to study woodblock printmaking in Japan. She later studied printmaking at the Royal College of Art, graduating with distinction in 2016, and then was etching fellow at the Royal Academy Schools in London. Currently, she is a research associate and the inaugural editor of the IMPACT Printmaking Journal, an academic peer-reviewed journal published by the Centre for Fine Print Research, University of West of England, Bristol, UK. She has taught printmaking internationally for over 15 years and participated in residencies in the US, Canada, China, Italy, and the UK. Her work has been shown internationally and extensively in the UK. Ho is known for her expressive, colorful lino cuts about intimacy, tenderness, and connection. Her work commonly features people and animals in comedic, absurd, or affectionate situations. She aims to balance complex situations with limited scale and layering of blocks.
