How To Edit Your UOprofile profile.

Find Your Profile

  1. Go to your UOprofile (formerly CASprofile). It will live at https://profile.uoregon.edu/DuckID (e.g. https://profile.uoregon.edu/burridge). You may be redirected to a login page at https://profile.uoregon.edu/user/login.

  2. Click the grey "Login with DuckID" button on the left-hand side of the page. (Ignore the right-hand side of this page and resist the urge to stimulus-response fill it in.); you should be redirected to a UO Shibboleth login page.

  3. Login with your UO DuckID and password; if you and Shibboleth agree on what your username and password are, you will be returned to your UOprofile page.

  4. On the top-ish left of the page, just below the green UO Profile header and the grey menu, you should see three tabs: View, Edit, and Revisions. Click on “Edit.”

  5. The webpage will change slightly. Your information will be displayed in a series of fields that you can edit.

Don’t Change:

  • Your E-mail address – please use your uoregon email address. If you change it, you'll confuse all sorts of UO systems.

Adding or Changing Your CV or Profile Picture

Near the top of the page, underneath the field for your Email address, are some "thou shalt and thou shalt nots", and upload tools for uploading a picture and a C.V.

If you choose to upload a (new) picture of yourself, you should follow these guidelines to keep UO marketing folks happy:

  • The picture of you should be a head-and-shoulders-shot (no one will be able to see you if you're too far away from the camera).
  • The picture should be you (i.e. not your cat/child/dog/spouse/car/favorite movie poster/latest publication cover).
  • The picture should be only you (i.e. not a couple, family, or group shot).
  • The picture should be cropped into a portrait orientation no larger than 600 pixels wide by 800 pixels tall.
  • The picture should be no more than three years old.
  • Make sure the background contrasts with your clothing and hair so there isn’t an accidental camouflage effect.
  • Make sure the background isn’t confusing or too busy.
  • Extra credit: your eyes should be in focus.
  • Additional UO portrait tips may be found from the UO Brand Guide and the more strict EMU Photo Submissions Guide.

  1. Confirm that you've logged into the site, and you have selected the "Edit" tab for your profile.

  2. If you are replacing an old photo, click on the red "Delete" button below the photo to remove it. The site will think for a moment, then replace the photo with the word Picture and a "Browse..." button.

  3. Click on the "Browse..." button underneath the word Picture. A dialog window should appear and display your computer's file structure.

  4. Navigate to where your new photo is located on your computer and select it.

  5. The site should think for a moment and then display your new photo underneath the word Picture.
  6. To the left of your photo, click on each of the photo dimensions

    • 220x250
    • 300x225
    • 300x300
    • 800X600

and resize the blue or red cropping box bounding your image to make sure it isn't slicing off your forehead or chin. You may see the words "Cropping applied" or "Soft limit reached"; these are information messages, not error alerts.

  7. When you're finished updating your photo, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the SAVE button to save information; a message confirming that changes have been saved will appear.

To upload a C.V. in PDF, docx, or doc format.

  1. Confirm that you've logged into the site, and you have selected the "Edit" tab for your profile.

  2. Scroll down a little to the Curriculum Vitae Section.

  3. If you are replacing an old CV, click on the "Remove" button to the right of your old CV to remove it.

  6. Click on the SAVE button at the bottom of the page to save information; a message confirming that changes have been saved will appear.

Editing Your Office Hours.

  1. Confirm that you've logged into the site, and you have selected the "Edit" tab for your profile.

  2. Scroll down a little until you see the field for Find People Name.
  3. Normally you will not want to change the following fields:

    • Find People Name
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Affiliation – (most everyone will be “faculty” or “staff”)
    • Title
    • Additional Title
    • Departments – (really, don’t change this one)
    • Affiliated Departments

    Feel free to update

    • Pronouns
    • Phone Overwrite
    • Office Overwrite
    • Office Hours (this needs to be one line of plain text, with no carriage returns)
    • City
    • Adviser
    • Interests
    • Website (please limit this to non-commercial sites related to your research)

You will need to contact Telcom Services at https://service.uoregon.edu/TDClient/2030/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=30920 to make permanent changes to your

    • Phone
    • Office

N.B.:  The UO Profile portal is synced weekly with UO FindPeople.  Sometimes, old contact information will stay in the UO FindPeople tool for a very long period.  If your office phone, room, or building has changed, or if you find your contact information keeps reverting to out-dated information, a short-term fix (which sometimes turns into a long-term fix) is to put in the current information in the PHONE OVERWRITE and OFFICE OVERWRITE fields.

  4. After you’ve made any changes, scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the SAVE button.

  5. When you’re done editing your profile be sure to log out. Press the “Log out” link at the bottom of the page’s left-hand column.

Editing Your Statement & Other Profile Sections.

In addition to contact information, UOprofile has a mechanism for sharing more detailed and formatted information which you can use for displaying a bibliography of your publications, or summarizing your education, or posting a general statement about your interests, pedagogy, or research.

  1. To begin, it's useful to have the text you want to put into a profile all ready to go in a Microsoft Word document or an HTML document.

  2. Make sure you are logged into UOprofile; go to your profile at https://profile.uoregon.ed/DuckID (e.g.https://profile.uoregon.edu/burridge), and select the "Edit" tab for your profile.

  3. If you have any already existing profile sections, they will be at the bottom of your page under the heading "Profile Section." You can edit these directly.

  4. If you have no existing profile sections, scroll down to the bottom of your profile's web page.

  5. Click on the button "Add Profile Section" to add a new section; the site should think a moment and then create a new, blank section at the bottom of the page.

  6. You will need to select the TYPE of content you're providing. There's many options, these are:
    • Appearances
    • Biography
    • CV Summary
    • Education
    • Expertise
    • Honors and Awards
    • Media Coverage
    • Projects
    • Publications
    • Research
    • Research Interests
    • Speeches
    • Statement
    • Students
    • Teaching
    • Other (depreciated)

  7. Most people choose to edit a general Statement; choose the section type that most closely matches the information you'll be providing. ("Other" is a depreciated option; information put into an Other section will not show up on a CHC profile page).

  8. Underneath the Body is a simple WYSIWYG editor; type in your information, or paste it in from your prepared document.

  9. If you have multiple sections, they will be displayed one underneath the other. To the left of each section is a four-arrow drag-and-drop anchor; use this to reorder your sections.

  10. Once you've entered in your text and filled out the other fields, scroll down to the bottom of the page.

  11. Click on the SAVE button at the bottom of the page to save it. The section should appear on any CAS department web rosters that display your profile. It will also be listed in the top-left corner of your main UOprofile profile page.

☞ In a perfect world, changes made at https://profile.uoregon.edu would show up within 5 seconds at honors.uoregon.edu. Alas, this is not always the case. Depending on an array of circumstances, changes you make may not show up for upwards of 45 minutes -- usually, changes will appear in under five hours. Additionally, monitoring for changes can be made more confusing by some browsers' penchant for getting a death-grip on cached information (i.e. photos) and displaying old information instead of updated information.
