Graduate Degree Pathways

These special degree program partnerships enable honors college students to enter directly into graduate programs in law and business.

3+3: Six Years to a Law Degree
Enables CHC students to complete both a bachelor’s degree and a law degree at the University of Oregon in six years rather than the usual seven.

MS in Management
This partnership with UO’s Lundquist College of Business offers CHC students guaranteed admission into the Master of Science in Management Program.

B-BRITE Internships at OHSU
Biomedical & Bioinformatics Research Internship and Training Experience (B-BRITE) is offered by the Knight Cancer Institute at OHSU. The honors college sponsors two students to participate in this internship each summer, working directly with established mentors in various fields of biomedical research.

Tilting Futures
Each summer, the CHC offers a scholarship for a PathwayOregon student to do an internship abroad in Cape Town, South Africa. Students apprentice in civic innovation with local organizations working on food security, education, women’s rights, youth empowerment, and services for refugees and migrants.

Career Preparation Courses

All CHC classes help students build durable career skills like critical thinking, communication, adaptability, and collaboration, but our minicourses are especially focused on helping students hone their professional competencies.

HC 199H: From Honors to Internships
Provides CHC students with the opportunity to integrate academic learning with the hands-on professional experience of applying for an internship.
HC 399H: The CHC Alumni Project: Networking in Various Career fields
Gives students real-time interactions with alums in fields like media and communications, health sciences, business, and law. Students connect with career mentors via PeopleGrove/The Network and workshop elements of their professional portfolio.
Public Writing Seminars
Small-group, interdisciplinary courses that enable students to learn how to communicate academic knowledge to broader audiences and become familiar with different genres of public writing, including op-eds, features, profiles, and blog posts.

Research Opportunities and Support

The honors college partners with units around UO’s campus to provide research opportunities and support for CHC students.

Provost Undergraduate Research Assistantship
Incoming Students
PURA supports talented incoming undergraduate students conducting research in the fields of chemistry, physics, earth sciences, mathematics, and computer science, who have intentions to enter graduate study upon completion of their undergraduate degree. All PURA recipients are offered admission to the Clark Honors College.
Knight Campus Undergraduate Scholars
Sophomores and Juniors
CHC partners with the Knight Campus to recruit honors college students for the KCUS program, which immerses a cohort of students with majors in the natural sciences in a full year of research in a Knight Campus-affiliated lab from January to December.
Research and Conference Travel Funding
Any year
In partnership with the Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE), CHC offers small grants for conference travel and research for honors college students.

Distinguished Scholarships Support
Any Year
The CHC offers dedicated advising support for honors college students who are exploring and applying for distinguished national and international scholarships like the Rhodes, Goldwater, and Fulbright.

The CHC Thesis Project

Through the thesis project, you can explore questions, solve problems, create a portfolio, conduct original research, write a business or marketing plan, or work with professors on an issue or project related to your own career goals. The thesis process helps students build valuable skills like project management, coachability, professionalism, and perseverance.

The Thesis Defense
Provides the opportunity to present your thesis project in a professional setting. Invite your mentors, friends and family, share your work and answer questions.

Graduating CHC seniors compete for cash prizes as they present their thesis projects in just three minutes with one slide to the CHC community.
