Zombies are everywhere, from nature to folklore to modern media. In this class, we will take an interdisciplinary approach to examining biological, historical, and cultural instances of zombies. We will explore the biological science behind zombification, including mind-controlling parasites and behavior-altering fungi. We will also explore the significance of zombies across cultures and throughout history. Through film screenings, case studies, and discussions, students will explore societal fears and cultural beliefs surrounding zombies.
