They provide leadership. They contribute ideas that will help ensure that Honors College students have what they need to flourish. They offer suggestions that help the dean in her planning for the future.
There are 12 students who make up the Clark Honors College Dean’s Student Advisory Council, a new group that will shape how we create a healthy and dynamic community.
“As our college moves forward, I want to create an environment where our students feel heard,” says CHC Dean Carol Stabile. “These students will communicate with their peers, talking to them about faculty and staff initiatives and bringing back feedback that can help make sure that every student in our community knows they belong here.”
She adds: “UO’s VP of Equity and Inclusion Yvette Alex-Assensoh recently reminded us that flourishing is mutual. I hope the Student Advisory Council can be a place where we explore that shared responsibility.”
Students on the panel serve one-year terms. Those who want to serve an additional year can re-apply for renewal. As its first step, the CHC Student Advisory Council group is discussing plans for Student Advisory Council coffee hours in Chapman Hall, new diversity initiatives, and helping students prepare for careers.
Stabile and the council members are working on plans that can be shared with the CHC community. The students on the council are:
