HC 101H- Biodiversity: An Evolutionary Perspective

Professor: Jesse Wilson

4 credits

This class is all about the incredible diversity of life and how it evolved. Evolutionary theory is considered a cornerstone of biology, and the foundational nature of evolution means that it is also cross-disciplinary. Main themes of the course include addressing misconceptions, the mechanisms of evolution, life histories, trade-offs, sexual selection, the evolution of behavior, the evolution of language, and more. Current and extinct species will serve as examples as we explore evolutionary concepts. Students will also have opportunities to research their own interests.
