This first-year seminar will focus on watersheds, rivers, and estuaries from various interdisciplinary perspectives. From the headwaters of science, ecology, and landscape, we will travel outwards, flowing through arts and music, literature and poetry, policy and economics, and more. Students will be introduced to the ecology and history of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, to ground them in the local landscape of U of O.
