Water is essential for life and plays a fundamental role in Earth’s processes. This course is all about Earth’s hydrosphere and how it shapes planetary climate, weather, and biological habitability. Topics include various weather events (atmospheric rivers, monsoons, hurricanes, heat waves, etc.), long-term cycles, ocean currents, and geoengineering. Past and current climates along with how processes affect life and habitability are themes throughout the course. Students will also have opportunities to explore their own interests.
