Leverage our global network of alums as you step into the professional or postgraduate world.
The small-college vibe at the CHC doesn't end when you graduate. We make the most of our close community because we know that students' outcomes are bettered not only by what you know, but also by who you know. Grads who came before you are invested in sharing their experience, insight and professional networks as you prepare to launch your career or continue your academic studies.
The Alumni Project: Our HC 399 course series
New in winter 2026, The Alumni Project was created to give students real-time interactions with alums in your field of interest, connect you with career mentors and workshop your professional skills. In these courses, you will also see for yourself how skills from your liberal arts education like communication and collaboration are crucial to landing and thriving in a job.
What to expect in an Alumni Project course:
- Connect with around two dozen alums
- Student teams are matched with specific alums whose work aligns with their interests
- Learn the art of connecting while strengthening your networking skills
- Build or enhance your LinkedIn and PeopleGrove profiles
- Get early access to the CHC new networking platform, The Network
- Polish and refine your resume
- See examples of your career path in the real world, from recent CHC graduates to seasoned professionals
- See how your CHC thesis project can boost your appeal to employers and give you valuable experience
This 2-credit, pass/no pass course is initially offered in career clusters specifically tailored to CHC students' top interests as well as our greatest concentrations of alums, who have volunteered their time to the project. Future courses will feature additional fields.
While Alumni Project courses are open to all CHC students, students in their second and third years of undergraduate study may find them particularly useful.

The Network on PeopleGrove
Currently in its pilot phase and coming to the CHC Community Summer 2026!
The Network is the CHC's new networking platform powered by PeopleGrove. Students can connect to alumni and industry experts for career advice, mentorship, real-world insight, and job opportunities. Alumni can network with each other both personally and professionally. The Network will serve as a new resource hub for CHC events and programming.
PeopleGrove is a platform where you can:
- Talk to alumni who’ve been where you want to go
- Get career advice, resume feedback, and industry insight
- Find mentors, internships, and professional opportunities
- RSVP for CHC campus and regional events
- Build a network before you graduate (without cold-DMing on LinkedIn)
The CHC’s Alumni Project courses are based on the project originally created by James Madison University Professor Carl Larsson.
