Sustainability is a term that has been overused and co-opted to mean whatever the user wants it to mean.  In this class we will draw from the social and natural sciences to carefully define, measure and analyze sustainable outcomes. Using the yardstick of sustainability, students will develop a research proposal applying a diverse set of skills to frame a research question, conduct of literature review, apply appropriate methodologies and convey the importance of their findings to policymakers, nonprofits and advocacy organizations.
