Launching New Ventures offers a foundation in entrepreneurship and the creation of startups. The best way to learn entrepreneurial skills is hand-on practice. To that end, this course will simulate elements that you would encounter in a real-world startup. Together, we will form a cohort of New Ventures, culminating in a final Pitch Day that showcases everyone's ideas, progress, and potential. Our Pitch Day will follow the real-world format of globally renowned incubator and accelerator programs. Each week, assigned readings will illuminate entrepreneurial mindsets, processes, and best practices. In your work as co-founders, you will apply what you learn from the readings to your New Venture.  

The entrepreneurship skills we practice in the course are applicable to creating a business or non-profit. Past projects in this class have included publishing books, improving transportation and sanitation in specific communities, launching a new app, designing a new retail product, and creating education technology. Entrepreneurship skills (such as clear written, verbal, and visual communication; idea generation; and creative problem-solving) are also widely applicable in most careers. This course is thus for CHC students of all majors and interests.
