HC441H - The Universe at Your Fingertips: Projects in Astronomical Data Analysis and Imaging (Spring/2024)

Professor: Jesse Feddersen

4.00 credits

  • CRN 32065: Monday & Wednesday, 2:00-3:20pm @ GSH 131

In this project-based class, we will explore fundamental questions in astrophysics using real data.
Using archival imagery of star clusters, we will study how stars live and die. Using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, we will measure the expansion rate of the universe. You will also propose your very own original observations using robotic telescopes to study pulsating stars, near-Earth asteroids, galaxies, exoplanets, or another astrophysical phenomenon and present your projects at the end of the class.
